dotEnglish born violinist Caroline Duffner grew up mostly in Vienna entering the Vienna Music Academy at the early age of 15 studying with such renown teachers as T. Kakuska and G. Pichler from The Alban Berg Quartet. Not even 18 yet, she participated in Kato Havas summer course which inspired her so greatly that she decided to leave traditional training behind to go on studying with Kato in England, a period lasting 5 years in which she also gave several solo performances throughout England and in Katos International Festivals. She then worked in orchestras all over the world: Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Radio-Televisione Italiana Orchestra, etc.

dotShe is now back in Vienna teaching in her private studio, and continuing her performing career. She passes the "new approach" on to others with great enthusiasm, helping many a professional as well as teaching amateurs and students including children. She always thinks back on her time with Kato in Oxford with tremendous gratitude.

"I am surprised how my instrument is opening up. I really enjoy learning about ’The Balances’ explained in Kato's "New Approach" How rewarding to work in this way!"

Ms. Duffner continues to give solo performances internationally, plays barock violin and is much in demand for chamber music. Recently she and Monica Cuneo have formed the Duo Concertante to explore and specialise in the unusual, yet rich and charming repertoire of Concertante Symphony (Double Concerto) for Violin, Viola & Orchestra
